When Moving — Take Heart, God Goes Before You
Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV) The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
Leaving the Familiar Behind
If you’ve ever considered moving somewhere new, you know how big that decision feels. Leaving family, routines, and the familiar isn’t easy. For us, moving two states away from everyone we love was one of the hardest — yet most peaceful — decisions we’ve made. If you’re in that place, wondering if God might be leading you somewhere new, take heart. If He calls you to move, He also goes before you.
Trusting God to Go Before You
During that season, we prayed, talked, and sought Godly counsel about the move. God began to open doors we never could have opened ourselves. He gave us His peace to keep moving forward. There were fears, doubts, extra prayers, and some tears. But my husband and I stayed on the same page and kept feeling God’s peace through it all.
Looking back now, almost a year since we moved, I can see how He went before us in every way.
If you’re praying about a move or adjusting to a new place, keep trusting Him. Ask for His peace in the right decisions, and remember – He goes before you in every step of your life.
A Sweet Family Visit
We recently took a quick trip back to California to meet the four new babies born in our family. Catching up with everyone and holding those precious babies was such a gift. I realized I had missed my family more than I thought. Even though all the kids had grown so much, it felt like we hadn’t missed a beat — we just picked up right where we left off.
Leaving again was harder than I expected. Not because we wanted to stay, but because we were reminded of the precious gift of family connection.
If you’ve ever felt torn between where you came from and where you are now, you’re not alone. God can meet you in those bitter moments and give you peace where you’re planted.
Finding Peace Where God Plants You

I’ve moved a lot in my life — four states, thirteen schools, countless homes. Somewhere along the way, I learned that home isn’t a zip code. It’s where my husband, my kids, and the peace of God are. That’s why I was willing (after God closed all other doors — don’t be too impressed) to first consider, pray about, and later trust that moving states away was His plan for us.
Have you ever followed God’s lead into a new place and life season? Share your story in the comments, or let me know how I can pray for you as you trust Him with the next step.
Psalm 37:23-24 (NIV) The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV) Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Amen, God goes before us!! He never fails and he always makes a way. The You, LORD. 🙏🏻
