Peace Over Fear in the New Year
John 14:27 (AMP)
Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.]
Choosing Peace Over Fear
I noticed this little fear creep into my mind as I’ve started thinking about the year to come. 2025 was full of joy, blessings, and minor trials for us, surely good times can’t last forever— I caught myself thinking. As if 2026 might hide something awful because we were blessed in 2025.
It’s funny how our minds— so often shaped by American culture— tend to label entire years as “good” or “bad”. But every day stands on its own. A day isn’t good or bad because of the year it belongs to. There isn’t bad years, or months, or even days— there are bad moments. And in those bad moments— quickly remember to run to Jesus!
The Holy Spirit gave me peace and confidence that outweighed that creeping fear. I remembered:
- God is the same yesterday and today and forever
- His grace is sufficient no matter the circumstance
- I am not called to live or think in intimidation
- God doesn’t run out of blessings
